TOP MOMENTS: Lungis, Whistles And A Sense Of Freedom

Top Moments, a new feature and recap of Bollywood's top events and moments that made news.

MUMBAI: It was a week of joyous moments for the Bollywood community. While Sooraj Pancholi finally got out of jail, the entire team of ‘Chennai Express’ launched the music for the film. Meanwhile, although ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara’ had a trailer launch too, it sorely missed the star quotient.

Free Bird: Sooraj Pancholi finally made bail and got out of jail, leading to everyone around him heaving a sigh of relief. That wasn’t the only joyous occasion in the boy’s life this week as Salman Khan, who has taken the young actor under his wings, almost confirmed that his debut film, a remake of Subhash Ghai’s ‘Hero’ was still on. In fact, this incident has turned the wheels of fortune for the entire family as Sooraj Pancholi’s father Aditya Pancholi too seems to have hit upon good times as he bagged a small but crucial role in Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Mental’. Their fans hope that Lady Luck continues smiling on them.

Ready, Steady, Po: The entire team of ‘Chennai Express’ must have had a lot of fun while shooting for the film, if their gatherings are anything to go by. Director Rohit Shetty and team launched the music of the film this week, full of techno dance music, South music homages and lilting melodies. Every attendant at the event was made to wear lungis and mundus and each of them were given whistles too, which they were asked to blow. Add to that Shah Rukh Khan dancing with Deepika Padukone and the musical team of Vishal-Shekhar singing along with lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya, a fun evening was guaranteed. Fans hope that the film is as fun as the event too.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Alone: Usually trailer launches of films, especially big films, guarantee that the stars would be there to launch it. When the ‘Satyagraha’ trailer launched last week, even though Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor were in London, they were still present through a webcast. At the trailer launch for ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara’ though, only the director Milan Luthria and the producer Ekta Kapoor were present. We can’t deny Ekta Kapoor’s popularity, but it did seem dull especially without Akshay Kumar who always makes any occasion an event to remember with his energy and charm. Thankfully, the afternoon ended well because the trailer had a lot of Akshay Kumar, with Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan along for help.
