MUMBAI: It was a mixed week for Bollywood. Sooraj Pancholi had to spend another week in jail, but the big moment for him came when news arrived that he may have to undergo a narco test. On the other hand, there was happiness when the ‘Satyagraha’ team had a global launch for their trailer. And then Ranveer Singh was Bollywood’s man of the week as he stole the limelight from his ‘Lootera’ co-star Sonakshi Sinha at a book launch.
Sach Ka Saamna: It’s almost been two weeks since Sooraj Pancholi has been in jail for the alleged abettment of Jiah Khan’s suicide. And now, the police want him to undergo a narco test. For those not in the know, during a narco analysis, an accused is injected with serums which induce in the person a sleep-like condition. The accused is then made to talk. Whatever he talks is held to be the truth. The Supreme Court, though, does not recognise narco testing and has said in 2009 that narco testing cannot be treated as evidence. No one knows whether Sooraj Pancholi is guilty or innocent, but it seems like the budding actor will be spending some more time behind bars for now.
Trailer Launch: Although a trailer for Prakash Jha’s forthcoming film ‘Satyagraha’ was out almost a month ago, a global trailer launch was held this week. A new trailer was released which, leaving aside a few extra dialogues, was almost the same as the previous trailer. Present at the launch were Prakash Jha, Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee and Amrita Rao. The two other main stars of the film Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan were present through a webcast as they were in London. The trailer has received mixed reviews as people feel that it looks very similar to Prakash Jha’s previous films ‘Raajneeti’ and ‘Chakravyuh’, the last of which was especially tedious. We hope that ‘Satyagraha’ proves to be at least a little different.
The Smooth Charmer: Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha may have paired up for the first time in director Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘Lootera’, but their friendship seems to go deep. At a recent book launch associated with the film, both seemed extremely comfortable with each other. Ranveer Singh was the smooth talker and charmer though, as he spoke more than his co-star and even handled questions with ease. Sonakshi Sinha said that Ranveer Singh lacked in matters of chivalry, but the ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ star almost convinced the audience that he was chivalrous enough. The afternoon proved to be even more memorable for those present when Ranveer Singh came on to the floor and got a journalist to do a classical dance to the tune of ‘Sawaar Loon’ from the film set in the era of the fifties. Ranveer Singh sure managed to charm his way into a lot of people’s hearts that day.
