MUMBAI: Balaji Motion Pictures has now released the trailer of its 2013 supernatural horror flick ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ starring Emraan Hashmi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi.

The romantic-horror-thriller, said to be based on the real cult urban legends, is directed by debutante Kannan Iyer.

The promo begins with an eerie sound, and you know you can expect a good scare from the film. An array of stairs takes the viewer up to an old spooky building and introduces one to Emraan Hashmi playing “The Magician” receiving a standing ovation.

The Magician shares with us his definition of a “Daayan”, “The witch is beautiful and mysterious, on a fairy like face with dense cloudy hair, twisted feet and arms longer than her body, her entire strength is tied up in her braid.

“Every high rise has a Hell,
Every Hell has a Queen,
The Queen must Return.”

Of course being a supernatural thriller there are many special effects one can look out for. The promo relies heavily on its background score to create the horror feel. The trademark doll, “The Ring” inspired tresses, creepy voices – it’s all there.
‘Ek Thi Daayan’ produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj, is scheduled to be released on April 18, 2013, and we hope the film makes us shudder in fear, not laughter.
