Watch: Ranbir Kapoor’s Rise From Cage-Fighter To Bigshot In Bombay Velvet

Ranbir-Kapoor-BVThe first trailer of Bombay Velvet gave us a glimpse of Bombay in 1960’s and it’s colourful night life. We were introduced to the characters in the film, the lead Johnny Balraj a cage fighter, the Jazz singer Rosie and film’s antagonist, Kaizad Khambatta played by Karan Johar. The second trailer however takes us further in the story. While it pretty much seems as if the scenes are repeating, the story behind Bombay Velvet unfolds in the recent trailer.

We finally come face to face with Johnny‘s lust and desire to be more than just a cage fighter. His desire to make it big in the city, to take control and not just be controlled. His this same desire to change his “aukaat”, gives birth to the whole chaos and the destruction that follows. Anurag Kashyap‘s second trailer of Bombay Velvet pretty much gave us the glimpse of Johnny‘s making from nothing to everything.

Talking about the elements that grabbed our attention apart from the message in the trailer were surely the aura of 60’s, the language and Kay Kay Menon! Yes, finally one of the most finest actors in Indian cinema gets his spot in his film’s trailer. In the first trailer, Kay Kay Menon went missing while Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar stole all the thunder. But in the second trailer, Kay Kay Menon is finally introduced to the audiences.

Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Bombay Velvet will take us on a journey of Johnny Balraj played by Ranbir Kapoor, who sets out fighting all the odds just to fulfil his dream of becoming a big shot in the city. Based on Gyan Prakash book called Mumbai Fables, the film is a story of how a man’s dream becomes every man’s nightmare. Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar, the film also stars Kay Kay Menon, Raveena Tandon and Manish Chaudhary.

The film is all set to hit theatres on May 15, 2015.
