MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, who is all set for the release of her ‘bravest film ever’ – Heroine – this friday, took the blessings of Lord Ganesha by celebrating the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi at Sarvajanik Ganeshostav Mandal at Bandra in Mumbai on September 19, Wednesday.
Along with director Madhur Bhandarkar, Kareena was spotted wearing a lovely pink netted sari and folding her hands in prayer. A huge crowd gathered to see the star while she performed the aarti. Recently, Madhur and Kareena had also visited the Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi, Mumbai to launch the music of the film. Madhur had said at that time, “We will go wherever Bappa (Lord Ganesha) calls us.”
“We are happy that those who have watched ‘Heroine’ at the trials, their response has been good. They are appreciating Kareena’s work and the movie. I am Ganapati bappa’s bhakt and I also insisted that Kareena come with me this time,” Bhandarkar said here.
Kareena, who plays an actress named Mahi Arora in the film and showcases the ups and downs in the life of a screen diva, is ecstatic at the response to the movie so far.
“Just really excited. (My sister) Karisma (Kapoor) has seen the film and her reaction was great. She was crying when she saw the film and lots of people have seen it. Helen aunty and her family saw the film, Waheeda (Rahman) jee also. Everyone has liked it, so I am really happy,” the 31-year-old said here Wednesday at a Ganesh puja pandal in Bandra.
She says “it is a very brave role” for her.
UTV Motion Pictures and Bhandarkar Entertainment’s ‘Heroine’ is slated to release worldwide on September 21. The film also features Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda, Divya Dutta and Shahana Goswami.
