Payal Singhal – LFW Summer/Resort 2012
With Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream as her inspiration, Payal Singhal's "Indian Summer Night Dream Resort Bridal 2012" line at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 was a sensuous and beauteous dream to behold on the ramp. Creating ethereal resort and fabulous bridal wear, Payal delighted the audience by displaying a line of dresses, gowns, lehengas, sari and salwar/kurtas to melodious music. To add to the dazzle and glamour of the bridal wear, the colour choice was apt as blush, mint, indigo, purple, sand, emerald and turmeric glided down the ramp. Sensuous georgette, silk, velvet, Banaras brocades, Jamawar, tulle and taffeta glistened with expert pita kora work, filigree with gotta and the designer added moti and crystals which created the ultimate glamorous look for the creations. The crystal encrusted yokes, bodices, shoulders, necklines and sleeves dazzled under the ramp lights. The slate grey satin gown with a velvet bolero and pita kora lotus embroidery, the blush tulle and silk Banaras kalidaar gown, taffeta gathered tunic with crystal and filigree work on skirt and the final pale blue tulle sherwani with purple satin churidars were stunners. Adding an interesting twist there was the kalidaar lehenga-sari with resham and rhinestone buttis matched with an ornate choli and velvet ghagra. One solitary jumpsuit with a crystal embroidered cape and the solo gold georgette sari with mukaish border, added variety to the collection. There was opulence of the highest order in every creation with Payal's signature glittering embroidery being the cynosure of all eyes. Making a graceful entry to end the show was Tanisha star of the romantic Bollywood film, Neal 'n Nikki in a spectacular black tulle lehenga embroidered with lush gold and teamed with a long sleeved choli and striking dupatta. For the summer bride who wants all eyes riveted on her; Payal Singhal's collection will create the right impression.
