Aamir Khan finalizes next film; to produce it with Farhan Akhtar & Ritesh Sidhwani

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has signed a co-production deal with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. The film that will be made under this deal will star Aamir in the lead and is a suspense drama and also marks the coming together of the Dil Chahta Hai team.

This is the first new film that Khan has signed after 3 Idiots. The yet untitled film will have two heroines opposite Khan and will be directed by Reema Katgti (Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd). The script is co-written by Katgi and Zoya Akhtar.

Aamir’s last film 3 Idiots, which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is the biggest box office grosser in the history of Indian cinema. It goes without saying that a lot of expectations will be riding on this film as is with all Aamir Khan starrers. Additionally, Khan’s next film Dhobi Ghat, which is directed by his wife Kiran Rao, is slated to hit theaters on 21 January next year.

Khan will begin shooting for Katgi’s film in February 2011 and plans are to release it later next year.

Aamir Khan said, "I found this script written by Reema and Zoya really exciting and I am looking forward to working with Ritesh and Farhan once again."

Farhan Akhtar said, "It feels great to be collaborating with Aamir a decade after DCH. We had been hoping do a film together since then and I’m thrilled that it is finally happening with this script."

Ritesh Sidhwani added, "I have been waiting to work with Aamir since Dil Chahta Hai and its finally happening. It’s special this time as we are also producing it together. We can’t wait to start filming!!"
