After being in deep Water, director Deepa Mehta is now set to make a Punjabi-English film called Heaven On Earth. She will start shooting the film in July even as she readies to launch the start of her big period epic Exclusion with Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham and Terence Stamp.
The Pinglish film (which will be in Punjabi with a smattering of English) is a moderate-budget quickie that deals with the life of a Punjabi bride in Toronto. According to Mehta, it is going to be a very dark film. The film is based on the life of a bride from Punjab and how it changes in the course of just seven days. And it’s about the dynamics changes within a family.
