DivX, Filmfresh launch online VoD service

MUMBAI: DivX Inc and Film Fresh have announced a partnership to offer an online video-on-demand service on FilmFresh.com.

The new service allows users to rent or purchase films in the high-quality DivX media format and view that content on any of the millions of DivX Certified consumer electronics devices from major manufacturers.

Film Fresh was created to foster the distribution of great works of global cinema, including smaller US-based independent films often overlooked by major studios. With a large international DVD collection for sale, along with a number of tools for community interaction, the Film Fresh website gives users the opportunity to discover interesting content, and now also expands viewing flexibility by providing the option to rent or buy films in DivX.

Users can take DivX content from the PC for playback on one of 90 million DivX Certified consumer electronics devices from leading brands worldwide. Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience, including reliable video creation and playback, interoperability with other DivX Certified devices and the visual quality users expect from DivX.
