MUMBAI: After producing several reality shows for television, Endemol India is now gearing up for its big screen debut.
It may be recalled that Businessofcinema.com was the first to report that Endemol was planning a foray into films in India.
The company’s first Hindi movie will be a remake of the Malayalam hit, Traffic. The movie is considered to be one of the highest-grossing Malayalam projects so far in the calendar year. Several top film production companies were in the running to acquire the Hindi remake rights of the project.
The Hindi remake will be directed by Rajesh Pillai, who is also the director of the Malayalam original.
Endemol India managing director Deepak Dhar confirms, "Yes, we have acquired the remake rights for Traffic and we are very excited to begin work on this. Other details pertaining to the project will be announced at an appropriate time."
