Jimmy Shergill gears up for four releases in 2009

MUMBAI: The year ended on a high for Jimmy Shergill as he grabbed the V.Shantaram award for best supporting actor for A Wednesday. He has also been nominated in the same category for the Screen Awards.

He says, "At the start of the New Year, I bagged the prestigious Karan Johar film, My Name is Khan with Shah Rukh Khan."

Commercial success has been shying away from the actor, who made his debut with Gulzar’s Maachis. His work has always been appreciated; his films have been good, but gone unnoticed by the masses. Shergill opines, "Things will change this year. UTV’s Johnny Mastana with Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika and Anjum Rizvi’s, Flat are two big projects. It is important for a film to be released well and that’s where the corporates play a big role."

Flat is being directed by a debutant director but produced by Anjum Rizvi who made A Wednesday. "Flat is a super natural thriller. It is about a guy who returns to his flat after two-three years and he gets locked in. Terror strikes, but not through ghosts. It is just this one character inside a flat," says Shergill.

Shergill has been out of Mumbai for the past 40 days shooting for a Punjabi film, Tera Mera Ki Rishta. In the third week of January, his schedule for Johar’s film will get finalized. The production house has currently booked his dates from May to July
