MUMBAI: Finally a filmmaker has managed to convince actress Neetu Singh Kapoor to appear on the big screen again after almost 26 years.
Director Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal, which is the maiden production venture of Illuminati Films, will see the actress making a comeback to Hindi films.
Love Aaj Kal will see the 1970’s popular screen couple Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh Kapoor come together on screen after many years.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com Ali said, "I managed to convince her by literally falling on my knees and telling her that since we are such big fans of yours please come and grace us. Besides that since Rishiji was acting in the movie he put in a good word for us. It’s somehow magical since she’s been getting offers and refusing them."
The real life couple Rishi and Neetu play husband and wife in the film too. The two of them have done numerous films, which have been a big success at the box office in the past like Khel Khel Mein, Rafoo Chakkar, Kabhi Kabhi, Amar Akbar Anthony and Doosra Aadmi amongst others.
Neetu, who took a break from acting after marriage, has been approached many a times in the past by directors to make a comeback.
At the time of filing this story Neetu, who is currently in London, was unavailable for comment.
Love Aaj Kal stars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead.
