PNC bags Remi Creative excellence Award

MUMBAI: Pritish Nandy Communications has once again won the Remi Award for Creative Excellence at the 40th Annual WorldFest Houston International Film and Video Festival 2007.

This year, the company has bagged the award for the film Pyaar Ke Side Effects, which stars Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose. Directed by Saket Choudry, this film defeated over 15000 entries from all over to win the honours.

PNC had earlier won the Remi award in 2004 for its film Jhankaar Beats, starring Juhi Chawla, Rahul Bose, Rinnki Khanna, Sanjay Suri and Shayan Munshi, winning the trophy for the Best Comedy Feature.

Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, PNC head Pritish Nandy said, “Unlike Indian awards where people are told in advance that they are winning an award, we were not aware of the outcome. Had we known, we would have been there to collect it. This came as a big surprise to us.”

“We have proved wrong the belief that only art house films succeed at such festivals. We succeeded with art films like Sudhir Mishra’s Chameli and even commercial films like Jhankaar Beats and Pyaar Ke Side Effects. Today the western world is coming to terms with Bollywood commercial cinema,” he added.

PNC has recently announced a five film deal with Florida-based Motion Pixel Corporation’s animation studio Estudio Flex.
