Shemaroo releases Anu Malhotra’s documentaries on DVDs

MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment has released three of Anu Malhotra’s seminal documentaries – The Apatani of Arunachal Pradesh, The Konyak of Nagaland and the multiple award-winning The Maharaja of Jodhpur on DVDs.

The Apatani of Arunachal and The Konyak of Nagaland showcase the traditions, customs and lifestyles of the Apatani and Konyak tribes.

The Maharaja of Jodhpur is the story of his Highness Gaj Singh II and captures Jodhpur’s living traditions, festivals, ceremonial pageantry, regal splendor and the enchanting lifestyle of it’s royalty. It won Best Documentary & Music at the Indian Telly Awards in 2006 and Best Documentary & Cinematography at the IDPA in 2005. Internationally too, the film was feted and screened at over 15 festivals worldwide.

Malhotra who has won over 16 National and International awards, says, “I have always sought to capture India’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant living traditions through my films. My mission is to document cultures that are fast disappearing and remind viewers of the importance of learning from and sustaining, their traditional wisdom.”

Shemaroo Entertainment director Hiren Gada says, “We are pleased to bring documentaries of Anu Malhotra on DVDs. This is an effort taken by us to re-introduce and familiarize the upcoming generation with the different culture existing in different parts of our own country.”

Each DVD pack is priced at Rs 299.
