MUMBAI: Looks like Akshay Kumar may have his fans, but his films aren’t doing that well at the box office.

Even with a clear window, ‘Boss’ opened to only Rs 110 million (Rs 11 crore) nett on the first day, even though it was a public holiday on account of Bakri Eid.

Compared to Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Besharam’, which opened on the national holiday of Gandhi Jayanti, this is better, but still lower as much more is expected from an Akshay Kumar film.

The collections for ‘Boss’ were better in the single screens than in multiplexes. Occupancy was around 50-60%.

Likely reasons for lower collections yesterday could also be the cricket match in the evening which led to people staying at home. Moreover, collections could see a drop today as it is a working day.

Let’s see if Akshay Kumar’s ‘Boss’ will still be able to work its magic over the next couple of days.
