MUMBAI: Directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment, the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chennai Express’ has taken a running start at the box office.
As reported, the much-hyped film opened on Thursday with special paid previews. Friday’s collections were in the range of Rs 330 million (Rs 33 crore) net, a staggering Day 1 figure. This opening even surpassed that of Salman Khan’s 2012 Eid blockbuster ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (SEE FULL STORY HERE)
On Day 2, collections were very impressively in the range of approximately Rs 280 million (Rs 28 crore) net. Including the paid previews’ business of approx Rs 67.5 million (Rs 6.75 crore) net, the 2-day total for ‘Chennai Express’ is in the range of Rs 677.5 million (Rs 67.75 crore) net.
