Box Office: Kochadaiiyaan Gets A Mixed Response

Kochadaiiyaan MAIN COVERRajinikanth and Deepika Padukone starrer Kochadaiiyaan has opened to a mixed response at the Box Office.

Rajinikanth‘s much-awaited motion capture technology film Kochadaiiyaan as predicted saw a huge response in South centers. If one calculates the Box Office collections earned from all six languages (in both 2D and 3D versions), the film has managed to collected about Rs. 298 million (Rs 29.2 crore) nett in India, making it the highest weekend opening for any Indian animation film.

Kochadaiiyaan saw about eight percent occupancy in its initial days down South but the fans were a bit lead down, as the film could not meet their expectations. Kochadaiiyaan’s Hindi version saw around fifteen to twenty percent occupancy and it showed a decline as the days went by.

All said and done Kochadaiiyaan has done very well in its Tamil version while the Telugu version was average and the Hindi version dull.

This week saw the release of two films, Rajkumar Rao’s much hyped CityLights and Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi both of which has opened to a dull response at the Box Office.
