Box Office: Both CityLights And Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi Disappoint

Citylights-Jhand-Cover-PicThis week, May 30, 2014 saw the release of both CityLights and Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi. While CityLights carried a lot of buzz around it, thanks to Rajkummar Rao and Hansal Mehta, there was nothing that one knew about Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi.

One was expecting CityLights to create a stir at the Box Office, but then the film has had a dull run at the Box Office. CityLights has managed to collected around Rs 34.5 million (Rs 3.45 crore) nett and has not managed to draw in crowd inspite of a very strong word of mouth from the industry.

CityLights by far has been the lowest grosser for Vishesh Films since Awarapan in 2007. If this was not enough, CityLights has continued with a dull business on Monday, June 02, 2014. However, keeping in mind it is a low-budget movie, CityLights may just avoid losses.

On the other hand, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi had a very poor run at the Box Office and it looks like the film will just manage to hold on to its shows for a week before it is taken off.

Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi had minimal or no collections and has managed to collect around Rs 12 million (Rs 1.2 crore) nett and the way things are going it will end up being a total washout at the Box Office.

Well, Heropanti has continued its dream run thanks to the release of such films. This coming week, June 06, 2014, one will see Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty.

Let us wait and see if Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty can break the Box Office jinx.
