Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet hit the theatres today and the film opened to a really poor start. Surprisingly, one of the biggest films of the year had a very dull opening with just occupancy rate of around 15-20% at the Box Office. Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer film Bombay Velvet is doing quite dull at the Box Office. The film which happens to be one of the most hyped films of 2015, has failed to pull right amount of money and crowd on its first day.
Opening to collections of only 15-20% is not considered as a good start. Even with Anushka’s talents and Ranbir’s charm and Karan Johar’s much talked debut, the film didn’t succeed in attracting the crowd on its first day at the Box Office. Matter of fact, Ranbir Kapoor’s Bombay Velvet’s opening is less than his film Roy, where the actor only had an extended guest role. A lot was expected from the film on its first day, however, there still’s some hope that the film might pick up average speed on the weekend. Set in 60’s, Bombay Velvet, which tells a story of a cage fighter named Johnny Balraj and jazz singer Rosie, has a lot at stake. Looking at the opening numbers, it is not wrong to say that director of the film, Anurag Kashyap, who is known for his dark films, played a gamble with Bombay Velvet which failed to turn out well.
Audiences are not showing the expected interest in the film which has affected the footfalls in theatres. Let’s see if Bombay Velvet manages to collect average amount to pull through the weekend or not. We await the proper Box Office figure of Bombay Velvet’s first day, as it will tell whether the film will at all manage to get through the weekend with ease or not.
