After a series of bizarre out of the box roles, Johnny Depp is making a comeback with a serious grind-or-die character. Johnny Depp’s role as Whitey Bulger, the famous gangster from Boston has left everyone with chills. The second official trailer of the much awaited film Black Mass is finally out giving us a deeper insight on the film’s characters.
The trailer starts with Johnny Depp, 50 Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson and their kid having food at dining table during which Depp and the kid have a one-on-one father son sessions. We can hear Johnny say, “Hey buddy, I need you to listen very carefully to what I’m saying because there are lessons again and again throughout your whole life. You gotta learn from these things right. It’s not what you do, it’s when and where you do it and who you do it to or with. If nobody sees it, it didn’t happen.”
Now that’s not quite something you would say to your 6-year-old kid right? Upon being asked the same thing by his wife in the film played by Dakota, Depp’s only response is ‘YEAH!’ Oh well, just another day when a gangster gives some fatherly advice to his little kid talking about how to be a smooth criminal! Apart from the misguided advice, the trailer offers more coolness fromDepp’s side who looks nothing like himself playing the role of the notorious mob boss.
According to director Scott Cooper, many of the people who knew Whitey Bulger personally were left dumbstruck after seeing Johnny’s performance and couldn’t even bear to look at him because of the uncanny resemblance. Johnny Depp is well known for adding his own personal touch to the look of the character and this time he has proven yet again that he truly is the king of versatility.
Whitey Bulger, who was a notorious crime boss, was the brother of State Senator William Bulger, which will be played by Sherlock fame Benedict Cumberbatch. The film also stars actorJoel Edgerton and Sienna Miller amongst others. Directed by Scott Cooper and produced byCross Creek Pictures Black Mass is set to release on September 18 in USA.
