Hollywood Director Ava DuVernay Thinks Aamir Khan Is Like Oprah Winfrey

Oscar nominated director Ava DuVernay recently opened up about Bollywood heartthrob Aamir Khan. The director shared a lot of views about several different things but took time out to specially mention the ‘PK’ star and also made some interesting comparisons. According to Ava, Aamir Khan is like the Indian version of Hollywood television host and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey! She revealed why she absolutely loves the actor and respects the work done by Aamir.

Ava DuVernay recently attended the 17th MAMI Festival in Mumbai and that is where she opened up about Bollywood in general. While talking about Aamir Khan she stated that she loves him, and thinks he has a magnetic quality. Ava likes the activism and social justice work that he does and also thinks his television show Satyamev Jayate is great. Which is the ‘Selma’ filmmaker thinks Aamir is like Oprah Winfrey.

Hollywood TV host Oprah Winfrey is loved by millions for the social work she does through her show. Much like Aamir’s show on Star Plus where he meets and greets with people from all walks of life and extends his helping hand for them. Ava stated that Aamir Khan is upfront, and she respects those who spread awareness regarding several issues through such shows. The director revealed that although she is not fully well versed with Bollywood, she has seen more of Aamir Khan’s work than anyone else’s.

Ava also opened up about Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and actress Vidya Balan. She thinks that Big B is a huge star even in America where people know about him. While her time at MAMI festival, Ava mingled with Vidya Balan and the duo instantly became friends. The Hollywood director even mentioned her wish to work with Vidya some day. Will this be Vidya’s ticket to Hollywood? Well only time will tell.
