Lady Gaga has now become the first female artist in Gold & Platinum Program history to earn a Digital Diamond Award prestigious .She was honoured on Tuesday 16 th May 2014 in recognition of “Bad Romance” surpassing the 10 million threshold counting song sales and streams.

Said an elated Lady Gaga on her social media post, “I’m the 1st woman in Gold & Platinum program history to pass the 10,000,000 mark with a digital song, they declared it iconic of the decade.”

Chairman & CEO, RIAA Cary Sherman said, “With this award, Lady Gaga joins a prestigious and exclusive list of Gold and Platinum luminaries.  ‘Bad Romance’ is one of the most popular and iconic songs of the last decade.  We are honoured to present Lady Gaga with a Diamond Award”.

The presentation took place at Lady Gaga’s Washington, D.C. Verizon Centre show as part of her artRAVE: the ARTPOP ball tour. Lady Gaga’s digital single certifications have surpassed the 28.5 million threshold, counting downloads and streams and spanning seven songs.

Diamond honours earlier have been awarded to likes of The Beatles, Justin Bieber, Garth Brooks, Mariah Carey, The Eagles, Eminem, Michael Jackson, Kid Rock, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, Santana, Bruce Springsteen and Others.

Gaga also posted saying, “ Thank you RIAA! My monsters and I are so grateful for your recognition, and I share this award* with them!”
