Sony Pictures bags Outpost distribution rights

MUMBAI: Distribution rights for ContentFilm’s fright film, Outpost, has been sold to Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group for several territories including the USA, Canada, UK, Eire, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Greece and Israel.

The film takes place in war-torn Eastern Europe, where a band of battle-worn mercenaries undertake a dangerous mission into a no-man’s land at the behest of a mysterious businessman.  When they locate and secure a disused military bunker, they also discover a terrifying secret that has laid buried for half a century – and which they’ll have to fight to survive.

Outpost is gut-wrenching, with terrifying set pieces and a suffocating, claustrophobic atmosphere – gory, gruesome and thrilling in equal measure.  The cast includes Ray Stevenson, Julian Wadham, Richard Brake, Michael Smiley, Enoch Frost, Paul Blair, Julian Rivett, Brett Fancy and Johnny Meres.

The deal was done between CFI’s Jamie Carmichael and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group’s senior vice president of acquisitions and productions Lara Thompson.

Carmichael said, “Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group is the perfect home for Outpost, they’re really well positioned to exploit this kind of material and we’re delighted to be working with them.”

Thompson said, “We were very impressed by the footage and with a concept this strong and clear, it really works for us. Outpost is hugely entertaining and will be and will be a strong addition to our library of titles.”

Outpost is produced by Black Camel Pictures and Cinema One in association with Matador Pictures and Regent Capital.
