Universal Music ups executives for global digital initiatives

Mumbai: Universal Music Group’s Global Digital Initiatives (GDI) division executive vice president David Ellner announced several new appointments. Fred Santarpia has been promoted to vice president operations and finance, JP Evangelista has been appointed digital project manager and Rebecca Klie has been named account manager.

"Santarpia, Evangelista and Klie have all made significant contributions since they joined GDI and they are ready for greater responsibilities and challenges," said Mr. Ellner. "Their promotions are well deserved and I’m thrilled that we are able to expand GDI by promoting from within the department."

Based at UMG’s global headquarters in New York, Mr. Santarpia will report to Mr. Ellner and GDI senior vice president Ezra Doty. In his new role, Mr. Santarpia will be responsible for the expansion and operation of UMG’s digital media business, focusing on online advertising, media sponsorship and video syndication. He will work closely with UMG’s label divisions to launch and optimize advertising campaigns and digital products for artist and label websites. He will also evaluate new business ventures and initiatives, as well as be responsible for finance and accounting for the division. He was most recently senior director finance for GDI.

Evangelista will report to director product development Brent Hunter. He will work closely with Hunter to develop new digital products for UMG’s portal site and will also oversee the site’s maintenance. He previously was an executive assistant in the department and graduated with a BA from NYU.

Klie will be reporting to senior vice president Ezra Doty. She will help plan and execute advertising campaigns and also assist in product development for GDI’s websites. She was previously an assistant in the department and graduated with a BS from Ithaca College.
