There is much being spoken about Salman Khan and his latest film Jai Ho. Some say that the film is a typical potboiler, some say it has nothing new to offer, some are of the view that the film will not be able to set records and some feel that Jai Ho may not turn out to be a milestone as expected.
From the past three days, January 24, 2014 to January 26, 2014, there has been a lot of debate about the monies that Jai Ho has raked in during the first three days, or if Jai Ho will enter the 200 crore club.
What we are going to tell you is something that no one has even bothered to pay heed to and have even conveniently ignored.
The reason why Jai Ho has been a slow starter and could not roar at the Box Office is the fact that with Jai Ho, Salman Khan has tried to actually change his game.
With Dabangg‘s release on September 10, 2010, Inspector Chulbul Pandey gave birth to a brand called Salman Khan.
What fallowed were films like Ready, Bodyguard, Dabangg 2 in which Brand Salman Khan was very similar to Inspector Chulbul Pandey. He was fun, he was riotous, he was cute, he was lovable and he could laugh at himself.
Salman even carried forward this image in Bigg Boss, (the reality show that he anchors), at all the awards functions and public appearances that he made. This demeanor became his second nature and everyone fell in love with it.
With Jai Ho, Salman has tried to be serious, very brooding and no-nonsense kind of person – something that the audience is talking time to digest. Salman fans have not been disappointed with his film, but simply talking time to adjust to this new Salman.
All said and done, it’s a given that the film shall enter the 100 crore club in the first week. With films like Abhay Deol‘s One By Two that releases on January 31, 2014, Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra’s Hasee Toh Phasee on Feburaty 07, 2104 and Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh starrer Gunday on February 14, 2014, Jai Ho will enjoy a good run at the Box Office.
