Just two days after its release, Kamal Haasan’s newly released film Papanasam has already fallen prey to piracy. Director Jeethu Joseph’s film Papanasam is not the first film to struggle with the clutches of piracy. Apparently, before this film, Malayalam movie Premam also faced the similar issues. Things seem to be getting out of hand as just after two days of its release, a lot of pirated copies of Papanasam have found their way on the internet and are available online.
The director of the film talked about the piracy issue with the leading star of his film, Kamal Haasan and Papanasam’s producer, Suresh Balaji. The makers of the film have decided to take a strict action against piracy and will lodge a complaint with the anti-piracy wing of Tamil Nadu police. This incident has really shocked the director of the film. “It is really shocking that the pirated copies of the movie have been uploaded in many online sites soon after its release. We will surely take up the issue and fight it legally. Kamal Haasan and Suresh Balaji are expected to lodge a complaint with the cyber cell and anti-piracy wing of Tamil Nadu police today itself,” director of Papanasam Jeethu Joseph said.

The director of the film also revealed that they have also sought Private company’s help on the matter. The private company is monitoring the cyber space to check any attempts made to upload the pirated copies of the film online. But since the private company has no capacity to take any action against those behind the act, they are simply just removing the uploads from the online sites. On the matter, the anti-piracy cell of Kerala made some raids and had questioned several people concerning the privacy issue.
Anti-privacy cell of Kerala police also questioned Censor Board officials after the allegations that were made about the board leaking the pirated copy of the film. Another allegation says that the pirated copy of the film was leaked from a Chennai based studio, owned by Bollywood filmmaker Priyadarshan. The police intends to interrogate the employees of the studio as well.
The director of Papanasam wants a strict action to be taken against piracy. Earlier, director Alphonse Puthre’s film Premam fell into the trap of privacy right after its release and now Kamal Haasan’s Papanasam is struggling through the same.
