Delhi: The Centre for Media and Planning, New Delhi, aided by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and Department of Environment, Union Territory of Chandigarh, is organising Vatavaran – Environment and Wildlife Travelling Festival for the first time in the northern part of the country.The
festival starts on August 23 and will go on till August 25 at the Tagore Theatre at Chandigarh.
The festival shall have many award winning films by professionals in the field and attempts to create awareness about environment though the medium of cinema.
Policing Langurs
by Ajay and Vijay Bedi and Spunky Monkey on the monkey menace are films which raise an eyebrow as well. At the same time a film like A Second Hand Life by Nutan Manmohan detailing the hazards of electronic waste
and their disposal is also bound to evoke a debate. And then there are familiar subjects like Indian Leopards – The Killing Fields by Praveen Singh which talk about the pros and cons of the spotted cat. Chasing Butterflies
by Gurmeet Sapal also unveils nature in its raw form.
There will also be exhibitions and symposiums on environmental issues apart from the felicitation of legends in this field.
