Shanghai: Indian movies will now scale the Great Wall of China and reach
the other side at film festivals in the communist nation from August 25-31 and in early September as well.
Hindi films Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Dil Chahta Hai, two from Tamil cinema Roja and Anjali, Juye Poora Xoon in Assamese, Entee Veedu poontem in Malayalam, the National Award winning and Oscar represented Shwaas made in Marathi, the National Award Winning Dweepa (Kannada), the experimental film in Telugu called Show and Rituparno Ghosh’s Aishwarya Rai starrer Chokher Bali in Bengali will be on view. All these films will be subtitled and will be showcased in a fortnight long movie fest at Beijing and Shanghai.
The ongoing 2006 India-China Friendship Year is slated to be the reason for the cultural exchange. The Indian Embassy has organised the event in collaboration with the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, the official Chinese mouthpiece.
