Hollywood Celebrates Independent Films & Filmmakers

The 2006 FAIF International Film Festival will feature over 200 independent international films at the Mann Chinese theaters.


HOLLYWOOD, CA :The 2nd Annual Foundation for the Advancement of Independent Films (FAIF) International Film Festival will open with the highly anticipated Filmmaker’s Reception in the Grand Ballroom of the Universal City Hilton Hotel & Towers on October 5, 2006. The 10-day multi venue film festival which ends on October 14 will also include screenings at the famous Mann’s Chinese 6 Theatres (from October 6 to 12).


The international film festival is an annual event of the non-profit FAIF dedicated to promoting and supporting the art of motion pictures where independent films, submitted by filmmakers from world over, are publicly exhibited at the Mann Chinese 6 Theaters, in Hollywood, California.

The record-breaking number of film submissions participating in this year’s festival has surpassed expectations. The festival will screen over 200 local, national and international films in almost every genre. In just two short years, filmmakers from around the world have realised the value and tremendous opportunities the festival offers through networking. It is also a platform to meet industry representatives, including studio distribution executives from the major motion picture studios in Los Angeles.


Owing to the festival’s close proximity to all the major studios and people who empower the entertainment industry, participating filmmaker’s are encouraged to promote their films and talents during the festival to the decision-makers in the industry. The star-studded FAIF Awards Show gives participants the opportunity to mingle with industry professionals, executives, distributors and fellow filmmakers.


Past celebrity participants and industry personalities have included Beverly Garland, Ray Wise, Sonya Smith, Cassandra Creech, Juliette Lewis, Geoffrey Lewis, Steven Gilborn, Page Ostrow and others. The coveted FAIF “Sid Grauman Lifetime Achievement Award”, named after Sid Grauman, designer of Grauman’s Chinese, will be presented during the Awards Show. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to be the guest presenter.
