Actor Ambareesh is union minister of state for I&B

MUMBAI: In the Cabinet re-shuffle today, member of Parliament from Karnataka and film star M. H. Ambareesh was inducted into the cabinet as union minister of state for information and broadcasting.

The last re-shuffle under the reigns of Prime Minister Dr Manhoman Singh took place in January this year. At that time, Murli Deora, A R Antulay and Sushil Kumar Shinde were inducted into the cabinet.

Ambareesh, who is also known as ‘Rebel-Star’ among his fans, was born on 30 November 1951. He started in the film industry with small roles. His major box office hit was the Kannada film Yelu Suttinna Kote. Amongst his other films were Ranganayaki, Antha, Tony, Rani Maharani and Mannina Doni.

He joined the Indian National Congress and represents the Mandya constituency of Karnataka.
