While the inaugural day of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI Goa, 2006) saw performances by a plethora of stars, day two took IFFI to what it’s all about – movies. Films like Rang De Basanti, Thananam Thananam (Kannada) and La Petite Jerusalem (French) were featured on the second day of the festival depicting diverse cultures from countries like
Day two also saw a special preview of Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film Traffic Signal, where the director showcased exclusive rushes of the movie.
The Indian mainstream section was inaugurated with the screening of Rang De Basanti. Present at the inauguration ceremony were RDB director Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra and RDB‘s ‘Karan’ a.k.a. Siddharth along with actor Atul Kulkarni.
The evening began with an hour-long performance by the Shaolin Monks. This was followed by a heavy dose of laughter induced by the twice-successful team of Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani, with an on the beach screening of Lage Raho Munnabhai.
Ensuring that kids also have a share in the big entertainment pie that IFFI Goa 2006 doles out, the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), the festival’s organizers inaugurated the special interactive activity center at Children’s Park. Aptly christened ‘Krrish Stage’, the main competition stage at the Children’s Park saw performances that were nothing less than extra-ordinary. After a full day of high decibel activity, children were seen enjoying the hugely popular movie, The Chronicles of Narnia. A lineup of interesting movies like The Pandavas, Ramayana and many more will be screened in the coming days.
