MUMBAI: Macho man Dharmendra might have become old, but his fan following remains strong as ever.
At least in Toronto, where die hard fans of the yesteryear hero are reportedly waiting to have a glimpse on their icon who arrives shortly in the Canadian city to shoot for Anil Sharma’s Apne. In fact, Sharma claims to receive emails and fax messages from Toronto, inquiring about the arrival of the actor in the city. The film, which will bring the Deol family together for first time on the big screen, is jointly presented by Sangeeta Ahir and Prime Focus. Produced by Rahul Sugandh and directed by Anil Sharma, the film is reportedly budgeted around Rs 230 million.
“I was surprised to learn that Dharmendra still has so many fans. The people of Toronto came to know through your website that the Deol family is coming to shoot in Canada. After that, I have been flooded wtih emails and fax messages from Toronto and Vancouver, with people ready to spend fortunes to see their hero. I will be leaving for Canada on 19 February, as the shoot has been scheduled from 20 February. We will finish shooting by the end of this month. Apne is planned to release in the summer vacation,” says Sharma.
The movie also stars Shilpa Shetty, Katrina Kaif and Kirron Kher. Himesh Reshammiya has provided the music score for the film. T-Series is reported to have acquired the music rights for a whopping Rs 15 million.
Apne is reportedly being offered Rs 50 – 60 million per territory. Sunny Deol himself has offered to acquire the Bombay and Delhi-U P rights for the film; but presenter Sangeeta Ahir wishes to release Delhi-U.P. herself, sources say.
