MUMBAI: With Spider- Man 3 set to open in theaters on 4 May 2007, actor Kirsten Dunst jokes that she and director Sam Raimi are striking off on their own Spider-Man 4 sequel.

When Dunst showed up in Las Vegas this year to receive the ShoWest Female Star of the Year award, she told reporters that she told Raimi they should make a sequel “that’s completely low budget-‘Evil Dead’ style-where Mary Jane has eight children with very little special effects and then we’ll get a whole new audience, we’d make a lot of money because it wouldn’t cost as much and everyone would go see it.”

Reports say Sony is planning a fourth installment of the popular film, whether or not Raimi is onboard as director. “Do they want to give Sam Raimi a heart attack? That’s evil,” Dunst said when reporters asked her if the rumour was true. “Sorry, that’s not happening any time soon. I would just say no for Sam’s sake so that he can have a break. We would all do it together because Sam, Tobey and I are a team now, but there’s no way it’s going to happen very soon. I just can’t imagine that. We don’t have the story to tell right now.”

When asked how much she enjoyed playing the role of Mary Jane, Dunst said, “I really have evolved as an actress and as a person, so for me, the role has grown with me.”
