PDM launches India Music Week in London

MUMBAI: PDM-Entertainment launched its entertainment property – ‘India Music Week’ (IMW) at the London Calling festival held in Earls Court, London.

London Calling features the international music industry, players and deal makers from over 40 countries.
PDM India COO Devraj Sanyal said, “Music has always captured the imagination of Indians. Indian music cuts across languages, caste and religion to reach out to millions of listeners across the world. We are proud to launch this concept of an India Music Week with the support of IMI. The Indian music industry is quite unique compared to other countries, as it is virtually dependent on new Hindi films for the lion’s share (40 per cent) of its revenues.”

“There has been a burning need for a platform that allows global players to interact with the Indian Music Industry at one level and allows interaction at a trade and business level within the industry in India at another level. IMW is poised to fulfill this gap, starting this year and I am sure we will grow from strength to strength in the years to come,” he added.

The India Music Week is slated for an official launch in September 2007 in Mumbai and will look at unifying the various talents in the music industry and create a body that keeps a close eye on the local music industry and the changing international trends.

The forum that will address the issues confronting the industry, the changes taking place in the consumption patterns the new formats that will drive a new business model and brand associations. The event also aims to recognize and support budding talent in the industry. 

The India Music Week will be a week long festival with conferences, networking sessions, mentor sessions, discussions, workshops, concerts and international speakers.
