MUMBAI: Mohit Suri-directed Awarapan, which has been produced under the Bhatts’ Vishesh Films banner, is all set to hit theatres in three Pakistan cities on 6 July, 2007, a week after its worldwide release.
Says Sohail Khan, the film’s executive producer in Pakistan, “This is a great moment for us. Everyone here looks forward to quality Bollywood products and watches them on cable and on DVD. Now they will have the opportunity to watch it on the big screen.”
Awarapan will release in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi with approximately 15-17 prints.
Suri said, “I feel proud of Awarapan crossing the border. That was the underlying theme of the film. The walls have been broken and I am looking forward to the response from the Pakistani audience.”
Awarapan was released worldwide by Studio 18 on 55 prints in other overseas territories, including the US, UK, UAE, Spain and Mauritius. In the UK, it garnered the highest opening for an Emraan Hashmi-starrer.
