The Train directors embark on English film

MUMBAI: Post directing films like The Killer and more recently The Train, director duo Hasnain Hydrabadwala and Raksha Mistry will be directing an English film titled 200 Dollars. It is slated to be shot in Afghanistan and New York and will be their first English project.

The film will be produced by actor and entrepreneur Aseem Merchant and is scheduled to go on floors in November this year. To be made on a budget of Rs 45 million (Rs 4.5 crores), the film will star Aseem merchant and Linda Arsenio (Kabul Express).

“I am producing a film called 200 Dollars along with my partners. It is based on a true life incident in Afghanistan basically on the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks when the lookout was on for Osama bin Laden. At that time, a wedding party in the desert was bombed, which gave rise to a lot of unrest. We are touching a very serious topic and it needs to be handled very carefully,” says Merchant.

While the bound script is ready, the pre-production work is now underway. Director Hasnain, who is busy finalizing the cast, says, “We are yet to finalise the locations and other details. Our aim will be to use actors from Afghanistan and America itself. There is still a lot of work left.”
