Masumi embarks on international films

MUMBAI: After acting in films like Maqbool and Woh Lamhe, actress Masumi Makhija will next be seen in two mainstream Bollywood projects, Dus Kahaniyaan and Alibaug.

The actress has a three film contract with Sanjay Gupta’s White Feather Films of which Dus Kahaniyaan and Alibaug are a part. What’s more, she has also signed on to do a German and Italian film.

Talking about her soon to release German film she says, “It is a love story between an Indian girl and Russian boy and is set in Frankfurt airport. The film is yet to release worldwide.”

Titled Gate To Heaven, the film is a love story set in a political premise and addresses the issue of illegal immigrants living at the airport. While this film is complete and awaiting a release, Makhija is scheduled to start shooting for her Italian film.

When enquired about Dus Kahaniyaan, she says “It is a series of 10 short stories. The one I’m doing is written by Vishal Bhradwaj and is being directed by Hansal Mehta. My character is that of a carefree person. I play a film student in the movie. Jimmy Shergill stars opposite me in the film.”

Without divulging much on her other film with White Feather Films, Makhija says, “Alibaug as a film is close to Gupta’s heart and he has written a lot of it himself. I cannot say anything beyond that.”

While both the Hindi films are slated for a late 2007 and early 2008 release, the dates are yet to be finalized.
