MUMBAI: PVR has acquired the all India rights for the theatrical release of a Hinglish movie titled Loins Of Punjab Presents. It stars Shabana Azmi, Darshan Jariwala, Ajay Naidu and Ayesha Dharkar in the lead roles and has been shot in the US and India.
Confirming the same to Businessofcinema.com, PVR Films Cell CEO Ashish Saksena says, “We have bought the all India rights for Loins of Punjab Presents. The film is a comic one, on the lines of Bheja Fry. We are planning to release it on 14 September.”
Loins of Punjab Presents has been written, directed and produced by debutant Manish Acharya. In fact, Acharya even plays a cameo in the film. Talking about the film he says, “Loins of Punjab Presents is a comic film about a singing contest that takes place in the US and is sponsored by a millionaire.”
While the deal for India theatrical has been sealed, the audio rights are still under finalisation. The music of the film has been composed by Samrat Chakrabarti. The distinguishing feature about the music is that since the actors are participants of a music show, they have all sung their own songs. The album is a mix of some old and new songs.
Word has it that director Mira Nair has seen the film and was all praises for it. She had said, “Loins Of Punjab Presents was utter fun for my whole family, with clever writing and good cheer.”
