MUMBAI: Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA) chairman and CEO Dan Glickman delivered the keynote address to delegates attending the 2007 CASBAA convention.
Speaking to an audience of industry representatives, Glickman said, “We have some significant challenges ahead. There is no question the evolution of the on-demand world and the new and enhanced power of consumer choice is impacting the habits and preferences of the audiences we serve.â€
“Consumers are embracing new distribution channels and so is the movie industry. Our companies understand that in a consumer driven market, we must reach the consumer in the way he or she consumes. That is why we must continue to look for new ways to provide consumers an array of entertainment options in forms they desire. â€
He also added, “As more countries in Asia-Pacific migrate to digital transmission, the protection of digital content is a critical issue for the entire industry.â€
“The implementation of content protection solutions in the multinational distribution environment requires legislation, and enforcement to ensure compliance. It requires multinational cooperation, to ensure that laws comply with international norms and treaties, to legally assure rights-owners of the ability to control the security and integrity of their creations as they are distributed.â€
