Breakthrough Brits head to Hollywood

Mumbai: Britain’s Breakthrough Brits will this weekend fly out to LA to make their mark on Hollywood.

The honourees will get the chance to showcase their work to some of the industry’s finest and their success to date will be celebrated at an one-off event and gala reception at the London Hotel, West Hollywood.

To mark this occasion, acclaimed photographer Donald Maclellan has captured all 13 Breakthrough Brits in a specially commissioned portrait which is available at www.ukfilmcouncil.org/14334

Breakthrough Brits is designed to celebrate and bring on the new wave of British filmmaking talent on the cusp of breakthrough international success.

All participants will be presented to an audience of some of the most influential industry figures in Hollywood. The trip to LA has been scheduled to take place during the 9th Hollywood Black Film Festival (3-8 June) in Beverley Hills, California.

The Breakthrough Brits will also have access to the festival programme including the Infotainment Conference, a series of seminars led by Hollywood executives. The festival will also feature a dedicated Breakthrough Brits film programme showcasing a selection of the honourees’ work to an LA industry audience followed by a Q and A which will take place on 4 June.

In advance of the trip to Los Angeles, all of the Breakthrough Brits were immersed in a series of film business workshops and masterclasses in London last month with guest speakers including Tim Bevan (Producer and Co-Chairman, Working Title Films), Stewart Till, (Chairman, UK Film Council) and Andrew Eaton (Producer Co-Founder, Revolution Films).
