Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett will soon be visiting India for the Women in the World summit according to Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi. The veteran actress took to her Twitter handle to announce that Blanchett will be arriving in India on November 20 in the capital city Delhi to be a part of the prestigious summit. Shabana Azmi will also be co-hosting the same with the likes of Nita Ambani and Barkha Dutt.
Azmi tweeted, “Cate Blanchet coming to N Delhi on 20th Nov for Women in the world summit hosted by Tina Brown.Nita Ambani Barkha Dutt and I are cohosts.” British-born former editor in chief of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, Tina Brown had first started this summit back in the year 2010. She will also be hosting the summit held in India which will be graced by Academy Award winning actress Cate Blanchett. The summit aims at discussing norms for the empowerment and better standard of living of women across the world.

Earlier, ‘PK’ star Aamir Khan was invited for the World in the World summit held in New York City. The actor spoke about rape, social evils against women and about masculinity at the summit. He has addressed these issues earlier as well in his show ‘Satyameva Jayate’. Indian actors and actresses are now coming forward and being socially aware, contributing through active representation. Actress Shabana Azmi is also a well known social reformer who has worked tirelessly towards the betterment of women in Indian society.
Cate Blanchett also identifies herself as a feminist and has worked for the equality of women. Her latest release ‘Carol’ with actress Rooney Mara is being eyed as a possible Oscar contender. Cate has won numerous prestigious awards including two Academy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and three British Academy Awards. It will definitely be enlightening to hear her speak at the summit here in India.
