Mumbai: Warner Bros. Records chairman and CEO Tom Whalley announced several changes in the leadership within the Warner Bros. Records family of labels.
Warner Bros. Records COO Diarmuid Quinn has additionally been named president of Reprise Records. As president of the label, Quinn will be responsible for developing and guiding Reprise Records’ roster of artists, which includes Josh Groban, Green Day, Michael Buble, My Chemical Romance, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, and Eric Clapton. He will continue to guide the company’s overall operations, as well as support Mr. Whalley in overarching matters. Since joining Warner Bros. Records in 2001, Quinn has been involved in the global development and marketing of the company’s roster, which includes Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, Tom Petty, Linkin Park, Faith Hill, Disturbed, and Enya, in addition to the Reprise artists mentioned above. Quinn’s first signing to Reprise is British rock superstars Oasis.
Promotion executive vice president Tom ‘Grover’ Biery has additionally been appointed General Manager for Warner Bros. Records. In his new role, Biery will oversee the strategy behind all releases, working with the roster of artists, managers, and WBR staff to spearhead the direction of the label in the face of an evolving marketplace. Biery has been with the WBR labels for more than 18 years, and has played a pivotal role in developing the careers of Linkin Park, Flaming Lips, Goo Goo Dolls, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Seal, and, most recently the launch of Metallica’s new album, Death Magnetic. Over the last few years, he has also made Warner Bros. Records the industry leader in the resurging vinyl business.
A&R senior vice president Craig Aaronson has been appointed President of Sire Records by Whalley and Sire’s legendary founder Seymour Stein. As President, Aaronson will work closely with Stein to continue the label’s tradition of signing cutting-edge artists to the imprint. Aaronson has recently been involved in the signing and A&R development of My Chemical Romance, The Used, Avenged Sevenfold, Taking Back Sunday, Mastodon, Serj Tankian, and Against Me!
Jack Warner founded Warner Bros. Records as a soundtrack factory 50 years ago. The company has expanded to cover a vast spectrum of musical genres through the addition of Reprise Records, Nonesuch Records, and Word/Curb Christian divisions and the formation of Warner Nashville.
