MUMBAI: Walt Disney’s Alice in Wonderland 3D, which released on 5 March, took in $210.3 million worldwide in box office receipts.
Alice had estimated earnings of around $116.3 in the US and Canada with $94 million coming from the international box office.
The movie, which has been directed by Tim Burton, has taken the sixth-biggest opening ever in the US and Canada.
Starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Alice In Wonderland also had the biggest opening weekend for a non-sequel and is the first film to cross the $100 million mark in the first quarter of 2010.
Standing on the second spot at the box office this weekend was Brooklyn’s Finest, which did a business of $13.5 million, followed by Shutter Island, which took in $13.3 million at the box office.
