MUMBAI: Multiplex chain Cinepolis India has tied up with Sheth Developers for their upcoming retail space, Vivacity in Thane (Mumbai).
The development will feature a 14 screen megaplex format, which will be the largest cinema complex in the country. Four of these screens will be dedicated to Cinepolis VIP, an ultra premium cinema experience. The mall and the megaplex are expected to open by June 2011.
Large format megaplexes allow for more titles to be played and for titles to stay in theater for a longer first run. The fully digital state of the art cinema facility will showcase over 70 shows in a single day offering patrons with unprecedented flexibility in choice of film titles and choice of show timings.
Cinepolis India joint managing director Deepak Marda said, "Cinepolis is proud to partner with the Vivacity project in Thane, which will be one of the landmark upcoming retail destinations in the country. We look forward to our participation in the project with our flagship first of its kind theater concept that will establish new standards for cinemas in the country and transform the way we watch movies."
"Our partnership with Cinepolis reiterates Vivacity’s commitment towards bringing not only the best brands but also world class entertainment to our customers. We look forward to Cinepolis India bringing its international lineage in delivering world class film entertainment to cine enthusiasts. This will add to our aim of giving the best shopper-tainment destination experience to our customers," added Sheth Developers vice president leasing and marketing JP Biswas.
Cinepolis plans to open 500 screens across India by 2016.
