MUMBAI: EMI Music Publishing has extended its co-publishing agreement with Grammy award-winning songwriter and producer Jim Jonsin.
Jonsin has become one of the most in-demand writers and producers working in pop and urban music today, having written global hits for artists including Lil Wayne, Beyonce, T.I., Souljaboy Tell Em, Usher and Jamie Foxx. Two tracks co-written by Jonsin – Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop” and T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” – collectively spent 13 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart last year, with “Lollipop” earning Jonsin the Grammy award for Best Rap Song.
The Miami Beach-based writer-producer is currently busy in the studio with a series of major artists including Kid Cudi, Kelly Rowland, Cypress Hill, Jennifer Lopez, Eminem and Nelly. His extended co-publishing agreement with EMI Music Publishing will see Jonsin’s extensive catalog of existing and future songs represented by EMI Music Publishing’s network of offices around the world.
Jonsin said, "Big Jon first signed me without having a song out and he signed our deal off of his vision and appreciation of great music! Loyalty is important to me. A strong relationship goes a long way – and with people like Big Jon Platt, Andrew Gould, and Roger Faxon, my decision was clear."
EMI Music Publishing president of North American Creative Jon Platt said, "We’re all really excited here to be continuing our relationship with Jim Jonsin. From a personal perspective, I’m just happy to have watched his growth as a writer, a producer and an entrepreneur over the last few years. As well as being one of the hottest hit songwriters out there at the moment, he’s also one of the nicest guys working in the business, and it’s an honor to be able to work with him."
