Aamir Khan named Entertainment Business Leader of the Year

MUMBAI: Aamir Khan has been honored by the MCX Stock Exchange ‘India Business Leader Awards (IBLA) 2010’ and CNBC-TV18 with the Entertainment Business Leader of the Year, for his contribution to cinema. Director Raju Hirani received the award on his behalf from finance minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Mukherjee said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be here at CNBC-TV18 ‘India Business Leader Awards 2010’. Let me start by congratulating CNBC-TV18 for the sixth edition of this wonderful initiative that recognizes exceptional entrepreneurial talent and leadership in diverse fields of our economy. Over the years, the recipients of these awards in different categories have been individuals who epitomize courage, knowledge, ingenuity, vision and a drive to succeed and inspire. This year’s list is no different.”

Mukherjee further added, “Although a society can never thank enough the people who devote their time and energy in the pursuit of excellence within their respective domains of work, I believe recognition of their achievements and their contribution to the society through events like this can encourage them to explore new frontiers and inspire others to follow in their path. Your achievements send a very powerful message that success is achieved through hard work and dedication. The India Business Leaders were selected on the basis of a detailed three-phased methodology and judged by a jury comprising of management strategists, academics and corporate personalities under stringent, objective and a transparent criteria and process. The jury, along with research partners – The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (GSB), Development Dimensions International (DDI) and The CNBC-TV18 Research Team assessed candidates on a combination of criteria such as their financial performance, leadership, creativity, innovation and social responsibility. Further, candidates were also evaluated on their ability to create short-term advantage, long-term value, a competitive edge, and demonstration of leadership qualities in the business community. The business channel also conducted a national poll with a special group of business leaders, a peer group and the general public.
