MUMBAI: The Rajasthan Police issued summons at Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow ‘Mannat’ Tuesday, to appear in court on May 26th, with regards to a complaint filed against the star for publicly smoking at Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Stadium during an IPL match.
On April 8, Khan was spotted smoking at the stadium. Director of Jaipur Cricket Academy, Anand Singh Rathore filed a written complaint with Jyoti Nagar police in whose jurisdiction the stadium is located. In his complaint, Rathore, alleged that despite there being a ban on smoking in public places, the actor puffed away, thereby sending a wrong signal to his young fans. Taking cognisance of the complaint under section 5/11 of Rajasthan Prohibition of Smoking Act of 2000, chief metropolitan magistrate’s court of Jaipur ordered summons to the actor.
Constable Chitar Mal, arrived at ‘Mannat’ with the help of Bandra Police to issue the summons. However, Shah Rukh had already left for his franchise Kolkata Knight Riders’ match, hence it was handed over to family members. The Constable confirmed, "I have been ordered by my superior to give this summon personally to Shah Rukh. If he is not present I will give it to other family members present in the house and take their signatures."
