MUMBAI: Anil Kapoor who recently was seen as Inspector Afshaq Bhagwan in the hit film ‘Shootout at Wadala’ is set to produce his fifth feature film tentatively titled ‘Saat Hindustani’.
The title sounds familiar doesn’t it? But this one isn’t a remake of the 1969 classic ‘Saat Hindustani’ directed by Khwaja Ahmed Abbas, which had the legendary star, Amitabh Bachchan making his small debut.
Anil Kapoor who previously produced films like ‘Badhai Ho Badhai’, ‘Aisha’ and the critically acclaimed ‘Gandhi My Father’ will launch seven new faces and the auditions are being conducted throughout the country.
The film is not a remake of the classic and is entirely a new concept about seven Indians who try to cope with the American culture.
A source close to Anil Kapoor said, “Anil Kapoor is auditioning actors for the film which is expected to go on floors around September-October. It is not a patriotic film, but a new concept about Indian Americans living abroad”.
The source added, ‘The film is about youngsters who go to America to live the American dream. The hindustanis in the film are students who learn to cope with culture shocks and adapt to their new environment. The audition is to spot new talent as the production feels established actors in the industry are too old to pass off as teenagers.”
Let us see if the new ‘Saat Hindustani’ produced by Anil Kapoor works wonders for the seven newcomers, just like its predecessor did for Amitabh Bachchan’s career.
