Another celeb couple who will be a wedded pair soon. (Hopefully!) Weddings appear to be the trend in Bollywood this year. Several rumours have surfaced in recent days saying that the Lucknow Super Giants captain is in a relationship with actress Athiya Shetty and will get married before the end of the year.
According to reports, the couple wants to hold a South Indian-style wedding in the winter. They came right after KL Rahul celebrated his 30th birthday on April 18. To honour the day, Athiya posted some intimate and romantic photos of herself and her lover on her social media profile, to which the birthday boy replied, ‘Love You.’ The post sparked speculation that they would get married before the end of the year.
However, the actress’s close friend said, “It’s not true! There’s no wedding happening this year. Athiya has two projects starting at different intervals this year. One is for the web domain, the other is a theatrical movie. KL Rahul has the world cup coming up, and his schedule is blocked with different tournaments before that. With their hands full, where do they have the time to have a wedding this year?”
Athiya and Rahul met through mutual friends and clicked right away. They eventually became friends, and their friendship turned into love. The couple has been dating for nearly three years and made their relationship Instagram official in 2019. Rahul and Athiya have made public appearances together. They have collaborated on an ad campaign.
Athiya has frequently accompanied KL Rahul to tournaments, has attended matches at various places, and was spotted by her family’s side at the premiere of Ahan Shetty’s debut, Tadap, in December last year.
It’ll be fascinating to see if the couple can tie the knot despite their hectic schedules, or if another Bollywood wedding will have to wait even longer.
