Jersey, starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur was about to release in just a few days, but appears to have been postponed AGAIN! Looks like the film is undergoing a streak of bad luck.
This Hindi version of the south Indian film was initially scheduled to hit theatres in August 2020 but got delayed due to production concerns and when it was finally scheduled to release in December 2021, the cycle repeated due to the third wave of Covid-19 in India.
The anticipated sports drama’s release date has been pushed back again to avoid a clash with Kannada superstar Yash’s upcoming blockbuster KGF Chapter 2 and Vijay Thalapathy’s Beast.
Is this, however, the real reason?
According to the most recent information, the delay is due to the film’s producers being liable for plagiarism.
That’s right. You read that correctly. According to ETimes, a writer named Rajneesh Jaiswal, who claims ownership of the film’s story, has filed a lawsuit against the producers of Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur’s upcoming film Jersey. The case got handled by Mumbai High Court Justice Chagla. To find out the real cause for the postponement, we will have to wait for the verdict of this plagiarism case to be published.
Will we be able to watch the film? Or do we need to watch the South Indian version?
